Beyond the Blue by Pete Lorenz – Released March 25
With haunting riffs on alto sax and steel guitar above the sound of ocean waves and shimmering strings, Beyond the Blue evokes a dreamland of an iridescent lagoon under a clear tropical evening.
Originally conceived as a lullaby “Sunset Beach”, Beyond the Blue was one of my first efforts at songwriting. It was substantially revised in 2020 during the pandemic, after I decided to get back into music. The original song consists of the saxophone lullaby (starting at 1:19) accompanied by steel guitar. During the pandemic lockdown, I revised everything and wrote the coda (starting at 3:53). The sound of the waves has always been part of the song. 😊
